Brazil investigates 12 suspected cases of aviary flu

At 19h of this Friday (30.MAI.2025), the number of cases under investigation of aviary flu in Brazil. Now, they are 12 suspicious cases of the disease. The new suspicions are in Quixeramobim (CE), Itajuípe (BA), Ribeirão das Neves (MG), Bom Despacho (MG), Lagoa da Prata (MG), Santo Antônio do Monte (MG) were sent for analysis.

Wild bird outbreaks are usually closed after the definitive diagnosis and the final disposal of carcasses. In places with concentration of many wild birds, such as Sapucaia do Sul (RS) and Mateus Leme (MG), outbreaks can be kept open to include new cases by clinical and epidemiological criteria, according to Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock).

Confirmation of the case in Rio Grande do Sul led 42 markets to suspend the importation of Brazilian chicken meat at some level.

According to the last update of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, at 1 pm on Wednesday (28.MAI), are:

• 24 markets with total suspension of poultry exports in Brazil: China, European Union, Mexico, Iraq, South Korea, Chile, Philippines, South Africa, Jordan, Peru, Canada, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Malaysia, Argentina, Timor-Leste, Morocco, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Albania, India, North Macedonia and Kuwait.
• 16 markets with suspension restricted to the state of Rio Grande do Sul: Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, United Kingdom, Bahrain, Cuba, Montenegro, Kazakh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tajiquistan, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyirguistan, Angola and Namibia.
• 2 markets with suspension limited to the municipality of Montenegro (RS): United Arab Emirates and Japan.
