The Islamist group Hamás has assured this Saturday that it has delivered its response to, and that it includes amendments in order to achieve the end of the war and the replication outside the strip of the Israeli forces.
The counterofferta presented to the mediators “seeks to achieve a permanent fire, a complete withdrawal of the Gaza Strip and guarantee the flow of aid to our people and our families,” Hamas announced in a statement, in which he said he was willing to release ten living hostages and 18 deaths as he was agreed.
Hamas’s requests are not new, and with high probability will collide frontally with the demands of the government of the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, who opposes the conclusion of the military offensive and announced in March that Israel will occupy territory in Gaza.
Hamas’s response occurs after this Friday announced to be consulting with the rest of Palestinian factions in Gaza, such as Islamic jihad, the last proposal of the US envoy, Steve Witkoff, in order to make a consensual decision.
According to sources with access to the pact cited by the Israeli press, in the new document no requirement is in writing for Israel to give a definitive end to the war offensive or withdraw your troops from the strip. It does include the release of ten live hostages and 18 dead in two batches, in exchange for a high fire of 60 days.
In addition, the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid stipulates in a vague language.
Egypt asks for “guarantees”
Egypt, the main mediator together with Catar and the United States to try to end the war in Gaza, has requested this Saturday “guarantees” for a truce agreement to be sustainable, after Hamas denounced that the last American proposal does not meet any of its demands.
“We urged to make every possible effort, together with the United States, so that there are guarantees that ensure the sustainability of a high fire,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaty, at a press conference from Cairo with his gambia counterpart, Mamadou Tangara.
The Egyptian has affirmed that, together with Catar and the United States, he is “pressing with all the force” to end the “crazy and absurd war” in Gaza, for what he has wanted “that this agreement is reached as quickly as possible.”
In this sense, he pointed out that it is vital that the high fire is sustainable “so that what happened after January 19” is not repeated, referring to the truce agreement between the parties that was broken unilaterally by Israel in March after resuming its large -scale attacks in the Gaza Strip.
