How to repel mosquitoes: effective ways and means

Summer is a great time to enjoy nature, but this pleasure is often borne by intrusive mosquitoes. Their yelling in their ears and itchy bites can ruin even the most beautiful evening. How to scare mosquitoes?

Fortunately, there are various ways to repel these blood pumps and enjoy summer without discomfort.

Natural means – the power of nature against mosquitoes

If you want to avoid chemical repellents, you can try natural tools that can also be effective:

  • Essential oils: Many essential oils have mosquitoes with repellent properties. The most popular of these are lemongrass, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree and clove oils. You can apply a few drops of oil to the water spray and spray on the skin or clothing (be careful, some oils may irritate the skin, so do the skin sensitivity test before use). You can also use essential oil evapors or candlesticks.
  • Plants: Some plants naturally repel mosquitoes. In pots or garden you can grow lavender, lemongrass, basil,, mint, marigold. Their smell does not like mosquitoes.
  • Lemon and cloves: Cut the lemon in half and add a few cloves to each side. Place such a “repellent” next to yourself on the terrace or room.
  • Minutes: Mosquitoes do not like the smell of vinegar. You can place a container with apple vinegar or a little vinegar into the water spray (the smell can be strong).
  • Smoke: In the field, you can throw some fresh rosemary or sage twigs into the fire – their smoke will repel mosquitoes.

Commercial Repeat Measures:

If natural remedies do not seem to be effective, you can choose commercial repellents:

  • Sprays and lotions: These are the most popular remedies that are usually deet, icaridine or lemon eucalyptus oil. Deet is one of the most effective repellents, but some people avoid it due to possible side effects. Ikaridine and lemon eucalyptus oil are considered safer alternatives. When choosing a repellent, pay attention to the concentration of the active substance, which depends on the duration of the action.
  • Bracelets: Bracelets saturated with mosquito -repellent materials can be a convenient choice, especially for children. However, their action area is often limited around the wrist.
  • Electric devices: There are electrical devices that emit mosquito -repellent waves or evaporate special pills or fluids. They can be used both indoors and outdoors.
  • Mosquitoes catching lamps: Ultraviolet light lamps attract mosquitoes and kill them with electric current. They can be effective in certain situations.

Other tips to reduce the number of mosquitoes

  • Remove standing water: Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Regularly empty pots pallets, old tires, buckets and other dishes where water can accumulate.
  • Cover water tanks: If you have rainwater collection tanks or pools, cover them with mesh.
  • Use mosquitoes: Place mosquito grids on the windows and doors, and you can hang a canopy over the bed.
  • Avoid being outdoors during peak: Mosquitoes are most active in the early morning and evening. Try to be indoors at this time or use stronger repellents.
  • Wear the right outfit: Wear light, long sleeves and long pants clothes. Mosquitoes will be harder to bite through dense tissue.

Based on your needs and circumstances, you can choose the most appropriate ways and tools to repel mosquitoes and enjoy summer pleasures without obsessive insects.
