The Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza says it presses Israel to distribute help in the north
The Private Organization of the Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF) said on Saturday that it continues to press the Israeli government to allow them to distribute some food in northern Gaza, besieged and with around one million people only in Gaza City.
“GHF continues to press government officials to facilitate access to more help and open more assistance points to the north. This is vital to ensure that the aid is accessible to all those in need,” the company denounced today in a statement.
The distribution of a very limited amount of food through militarized complexes, controlled by North American security contractors, for five days to thousands of malnourished and exhausted gazaties – many with children – to move and cross dangerous areas to get something to the mouth.
According to GHF, today they managed to distribute in Tel al Sultan, in the southern and razed city of Rafah, the load of a total of 30 trucks with food; which is equivalent to 1.6 million meals. However, no food reached north. “This raises the total number of meals distributed to date to approximately 3,834,022” within five days, the statement said. The Gazatí population is 2.1 million, half children.
The organization also reiterated that “no deaths have been recorded” in any of its militarized distribution complexes in these five days. However, Gazati Sources of Health warn that more than a dozen people have been dejected by Israeli fire near the aid centers or when they were heading to them.
To reduce hunger in the strip, at least the entry of some 600 daily trucks with food is required, as well as medicines, fuel and water, according to UN estimates, who until the imposition of Israel was responsible for the distribution of help among the most needy population. Since March 2, for almost three months, Israel totally vetoed the entry of any supply to Gaza, pushing hunger to 2.1 million Palestinians. (EFE)
