Singer Marlon Brendon Coelho Couto Silva, known as, appealed to the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice with a request for habeas corpus. Arrested temporarily on May 29, 2025 at his residence at Recreio dos Bandeirantes, he is accused of acknowledgment of crime and association with criminal organization. The defense maintains that the arrest is illegal and motivated by persecution of its artistic performance.
According to the petition, he was arrested based on videos of concerts and lyrics that would mention leaders of trafficking and display images of armed individuals. The defense states that the evidence is fragile and based on subjective interpretations. For lawyer Alexandre Manoel Augusto Dias Júnior, author of the request, there is no concrete element proving Poze’s involvement with organized crime.

The defense also points out that the arrest of MC Poze represents a violation of freedom of expression and the exercise of art, especially when it comes to demonstrations from peripheral communities. The document states that “imputing to the artist the responsibility for drug trafficking in the regions where he presents herself opens a dangerous precedent”, and claims that the action of the Civil Police is selective.
Another central point of habeas corpus is the criticism of the spectacularization of the prison. The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police released official social networks images of the capture of the singer with the caption “Rodou”, which, according to the defense, was intended to publicly humiliate MC Poze. Petition argues that this type of exposure violates constitutional principles such as the dignity of the human person and the presumption of innocence.
The habeas corpus request also denounces the misuse of handcuffs during the arrest, made peacefully and without resistance. The defense maintains that the measure contradicted the binding Precedent No. 11 of the Supreme Court, which limits the use of handcuffs to situations of resistance or risk to the security of the police team. For the lawyer, the driving was media and disrespectful, with the objective of generating repercussions on social networks.
Finally, the defense calls for the immediate revocation of the temporary arrest and the issuance of release permit, claiming that the artist has a fixed address, a defined profession and does not pose a risk to public order. The petition stresses that MC Poze must respond to investigations in freedom, with possible application of precautionary measures of the arrest, provided for in the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The request was filed urgently on May 30, 2025 and is awaiting a decision of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice.
