Putin’s expansionist aspirations seem to have no limits. Neither threats, no recommendations, nor wear … not even his old Trump friend. Nothing and no one seems to be able to end the imperialist desire of the Russian president, who does not cease in his attacks and bombings on Ukraine after more than three years of conflict. There is no context, neither pretext nor a person capable of changing his mind.
In fact, this week the most massive attack on Russia took place, according to US sources. The bombing was starring numerous drones and missiles during Monday night who challenged Donald Trump’s claims, advice and objectives, who no longer publicly hide and on a couple of occasions in the last week he called Putin to “crazy” and “be playing with fire.”
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia would have launched more than 350 explosive drones and a dozen cruise missiles last Monday. This massive attack found kyiv’s response, which carried out an offensive with combat airplanes and the use of electronic warfare systems.
In fact, Monday’s attack occurred just a few hours after Trump described his Russian counterpart after the largest air attack until that time, which had occurred 24 hours before and had resulted in the death of 12 people. Similarly, Trump also lashed out at Zelenski about who said “does not do any favor to his country when he speaks as he does.”
However, from Moscow they defend themselves, and ensure that Monday’s attacks were an answer to Ukrainian offensives days before, made by dozens of drones, and that they resulted in serious damage to several Russian military-industrial facilities. On the other hand, with regard to Russian attacks on Ukraine and that any possible agreement are putting at serious risk, from Russia they affirm that the attack resulted in important damage to an air base of a central region of the country.
“This was a retaliation attack,” said Putin spokesman Dmitri Peskov. He also described Trump’s words and attacks on Putin as an “emotional reaction” at a time when Russia and Ukraine try to initiate peace conversations with the US as a referee.
However, these words did not relax Zelenski, who said that “only a feeling of total impunity can allow Russia to launch such attacks,” and said that “this lacks military sense.”
And meanwhile, the days pass, peace moves away and negotiations cool. More if it fits with enrolled positions such as that of Russia, which a month ago rejected the peace proposal promoted by Trump and accepted by Ukraine. However, Moscow demands that Ukraine first to negotiate its disarmament and abandon its aspirations to join NATO. Only in this way, it seems that Moscow could sit down to negotiate.
However, for the moment, the only clearing of the negotiations has been the exchange of prisoners between one side and the other during the last week (one thousand each), as agreed in Istanbul. But if the tests are attended, you can see how the attacks continue to happen without remedy, the dead number does not stop increasing and the negotiations seem to cool more.
