Our steel and aluminum industries are coming back like never before,” the US president wrote on his social network social network. He added that this will be “another great shake of great news for our wonderful workers” of the industry. Trump announced today the increase in rates in a rally at a US Steel plant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

According to the US president, he initially thought of increasing these rates to 40%, but industry executives asked him to increase them to 50%. Trump’s announcement only occurred a day after an appealing court suspended the blockade of the president’s International Trade Court of the president’s tariff policy on exports from various countries. This block would not have affected the rates on steel, but as announced on April 2, which consists of a 10% global rate for virtually all US business partners. In addition, it would also have blocked a proportion – which was frozen until July for the signing of agreements – which varied according to the country, due to commercial deficits and volumes, and which the White House classified as “reciprocal tariffs”.
