The income transfer program currently serves 20.8 million families throughout Brazil, representing about 18% of the population. While the Midwest leads with the highest average value (R $ 897), followed by South (R $ 862), Southeast (R $ 822) and North (R $ 680), the Northeast, where the number of beneficiary families is the largest (9.4 million), records the lowest average value (R $ 629). Acre is even below this regional average.
In addition, states such as Mato Grosso (R $ 968), Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, which have the lower percentage of families in extreme poverty, record higher values, even driven by extra transfers due to climate disasters.
