Bernardo Blanco does not enter the race to IL's leadership, but reveals names that would “support”

Interview SIC News

In an interview with SIC Notícias, the former deputy and leader of the liberal initiative guarantees that he will not run for party leadership, because Il has “very capable people”, he considers.

Rui Rocha announced on Saturday the resignation of the leadership of the liberal initiative and are already beginning some names for succession. One of them is not, however, Bernardo Blanco, who guaranteed SIC News that he will not apply.

“I just left Parliament, I would not make sense to compete. I am in three professional challenges in the private sector, not my time. The party has people very capable,” he says.

They are Carlos Guimarães Pinto, Mariana Leitão and Mário Amorim Lopes. However, Bernardo Blanco does not believe the first ‘align’. “It has great qualities, but it does not want to assume party functions.”

The leader also considers that the party must reflect on what went wrong in the campaign, but already points to the “Excessive collage to AD” as one of the failures.

“The party must defend its ideas, there must be a differentiation in the face of AD’s political proposal, if not obviously people will prefer the original to the copy,” he says.

About Rui Rocha, highlights the weighting, seriousness and ambitionconsidering that it did a “correct analysis”.

“IL is a demanding party and this is seen in this decision. (…) Just compare with BE, who fell to a deputy and its leader did not resign. [deputados]the leader says he went short and prefers to give way to another, ”he says.

“It’s the kind of ambition we expect for the country, I know it’s rare in politics.”
