Crisis in Gaza: Hamas calls for “permanent” ceasefire; USA rebates as “unacceptable”

The Palestinian Islamist Movement Hamas announced this Saturday (31/5) that responded to the proposal of truce in the Gaza Strip asking for a “permanent” ceasefire. The US envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, however, qualified Hamas’s response as “unacceptable.”

The Palestinian group did not explicitly have accepted the version of the proposal it received on Thursday (29), but pointed out that the answer obeyed a “sense of responsibility” with its people “and their suffering.”
