It is expected that the interrogations and the trial of Jair Bolsonaro and his allies take place in the second half of 2025
The (STF) is about to complete a crucial step in the case investigating the alleged attempted coup after the 2022 elections. On Monday (2), the first class of the Supreme Court will hear Senator Rogério Marinho, summoned as a witness by the defenses of the former president and the general. To date, 51 people have giving testimony. The conclusion of this phase brings the case of the defendants’ interrogations, including Bolsonaro and their seven allies.
Upon the end of the hearings, Minister Alexandre de Moraes must ask the Attorney General’s Office and the defenses to indicate whether they wish new evidence or steps to clarify the facts. Lawyers have the possibility of requesting expertise and bundles, with a period of five business days to submit these requests. Jair Bolsonaro’s interrogation and trial is expected to take place in the second half of 2025.
