The President (PT) participated this Sunday (1st) of the National Convention of, who officialized the name of the mayor of Recife, as new president of the party. At the event, Lula criticized the “far right”, defended the strengthening of democratic institutions and again aimed at the former president of the United States ,. During the speech, the petista stated that the election of senators on the left in 2026 will be essential to contain the advance of the far right.

“We need to earn a majority in the Senate, otherwise these guys will advance the Supreme Court. It’s not because the Supreme Court is a sweet apple. If these guys elect most senators, they will make a ‘muvuca’ in this country,” said the president. Lula also praised his relationship with the PSB and the former governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos, father of João Campos. “Very petista minister was jealous of our relationship,” he joked. Eduardo Campos was Minister of Science and Technology in Lula’s first term and died in a plane crash in 2014 when he was a candidate for the presidency.
