Meta and Anduril Industries connect forces for the development of AR and AI technologies for military purposes.
American technology giant Meta announced this week’s partnership with startup Anduril Industries, which is involved in the development of technology in defense and military. Meta’s widespread reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) will be used, along with the Lattice data analysis platform, probably for the development of special glasses or helmets for soldiers. This is reported by TASR, according to AFP reports and CBS News.
“Meta has spent the last decade with the development of artificial intelligence and widespread reality to enable the creation of the computer’s computer platform,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta Corporation on Thursday. “We are proud to be a partner of Anduril and help bringing these technologies to American soldiers who protect our interests at home IV abroad,” he continued.
Unique connection
“I am glad that I will be able to work with the meta again,” said the entrepreneur and founder of Anduril Palmer Luckkey. In the past, he founded Startup Oculus, which Meta (then under the name Facebook) bought in 2014 for more than two billion dollars. Luckkey remained in Oculus even after the purchase of Facebook. He left until 2017 after Meta was given a high fine after a lawsuit over the Oculus Rift technology.
In the past, the entrepreneur criticized the alleged aid of the online trolls group, which promoted Donald Trump during the US elections in 2016. Many Silicon Valley developers have refused to create new Rift software for Luckkey’s political views.
AI for battlefields
According to Anduril, the Lattice platform is a system powered by artificial intelligence, which connects data from thousands of different sources to provide real -time battlefield information for more efficient decision -making. In the past, Meta has called artificial intelligence models “necessary for the United States to win China and ensure American dominance in artificial intelligence”.
