Women are arrested for being in the country in an illegal situation; Eduardo Girão says he wants to investigate accusations of “human rights violations”

The Senate Human Rights Commission approved last week an application for the Senator (Novo-CE) for a commission to visit El Paso, Texas, 3 women accused of involvement in January 8 who fled to the United States. They are in an illegal situation in the country.

Girão cited the name of 4 women in the application. One of them, however, was deported to Brazil after the senator filed the request.

According to the Federal Police of Ceará, she landed at Fortaleza airport on May 24 and was taken to a prison unit.

  • of Goiânia (GO): sentenced to 14 years in prison for 5 crimes related to acts of 8 January;
  • of Limeira (SP): Defendant and is responsible for 5 crimes committed during the acts of 8 January.

Importantly, these women have been arrested for 4 months in an American prison awaiting a decision of the US courts on their requests for political asylum”Said Girão.

These women left Brazil in search of political protection against political and legal persecution ”, declared.
