President of União Brasil declares that he will not give up having a candidate in the presidential election and cites the strength of the Federation with the PP
The president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, said that the governor of São Paulo, (Republicans) “An excellent name to claim the Presidency of the Republic” In 2026, but the lack of dialogue with other parties can hinder this process.
“I don’t know if it is the name that has more ability to gather all parties. Politics is the exercise of dialogue. And Tarcisio has dialogued little with politics […] He also rules very far from the parties ”said Rueda, in an interview published by CNN this Sunday (1st.Jun.2025).
For the 2026 elections, the president of the Union stated that the party will not give up having a candidate on the presidential plate and cited the strength of the Federation formed with the PP. The acronyms, together, have the largest bench in Congress with 109 deputies and 14 senators.
“I do not give up being on the presidential plate. This is a different project. There will be 17 stands, it is a lot of strength. So any candidate for the presidency, whether from our federation or another party structure, will have to integrate into this project, because there is a lot of capillarity.”he declared.
The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), launched his presidential candidacy in April. Rueda, however, did not participate in the event, held in Salvador. THE CNNthe party president said the electoral scenario will only be discussed in 2026.
