Waste sorting should be considered not only during the holidays, but every day. The barbecue season is a great opportunity to remember where the trays and other waste belong. If we approach it responsibly, we will do something good for the planet.

Walks, meetings with loved ones and cheerful barbecue. Such moments are priceless, but even then we should not forget the responsibility for what remains after the feasting together. Empty bottles, sausage packaging or aluminum barbecue trays – all this must end up in the right containers. Do you know where the barbecue waste belongs? We explain.

Where to throw away the trays for the barbecue? They only belong to one place

Aluminum trays are light and practical, but their disposal has its rules. Unlike what many think, they do not automatically belong to the yellow container. Although they are made of metal, it is not the same type of waste as a can from the drink.

  • Those that are contaminated with food belong to a black container for mixed waste.

Why? Fat and burns cannot be ecologically rid of them and their cleaning in the dishwasher is not precisely gentle.

What about those who stayed clean and unnecessary?

  • If they do not contain food residues and can be recycled, they can go to the yellow container.

What to do with the remnants of the grill? Do it right

Not just aluminum trays can be a problem. The barbecue produces a number of packaging, dishes and small waste to be sorted. Although some of them act “eco”, they are not always suitable for recycling. Here is a practical guide:

Plastic disposable dishes

  • Even though it is made of plastic, polluted with food residues belongs to the mixed waste (a black container).

Wooden cutlery

  • They are ecological only when they are clean. Polluted belong to a black container.

Paper towels and napkins

  • They are usually greasy, wet or dirty, so they also belong to mixed waste – not blue on paper.

Meat packaging

  • Combination: contaminated polystyrene and foil – mixed waste.
  • The clean plastic wrapper (eg from the neck) can go to the yellow container.

Food remnants

  • If you no longer save the salad with yogurt or the melon is embarked on ants – they belong to the bio -waste (brown container).
  • The exception is bones and meat – they belong to mixed waste.

Bottles from drinks

  • Plastic Pet bottles belong to a yellow container – remember them not empty and flattened. If they are backed up, you will return them in the nearest backup.
  • Glass (eg from beer) belong to a green container. If they are backed up, you will return them in the nearest backup.

Used coal and ash

  • After complete cooling, they belong to the mixed waste. Never throw them hot or add to the compost – they are dangerous to the soil and increase the risk of fire.
