Tupolev-22 m3, Tupolev-95 and Beriev A-50: Russian aircraft destroyed by Ukraine and their code names in the NATO

Three distinct aircraft that mirror the peak of human engineering. A supersonic bomber and a bomber to propellers capable of transporting nuclear warheads. And an early air alert aircraft and control

Operation Pavutyna (Web) of Ukraine’s secret services, SBU, was a success and ended with 40 more destroyed Russian bombers. From the analysis of the images captured by the Ukrainian drones it was possible to identify some of the aircraft that were stopped in the affected Russian air bases.

Sky News identifies at least three types of aircraft that were among the targets of Kiev’s secret operation.

Tupolev-22 m3

The Tupolev-22 M3 is a supersonic strategic bomberfin from Long, the scope developed by the Soviet Union and remains in operation in the Russian Air Force. This aircraft is also known by the NATO code name “Backfire-C”.

The Tu-22 M3 has a top speed of 1.88 MACH, about 2,000 km/he has a autonomy of 7 thousand kilometers and can be replenished in the air.

This aircraft can carry up to 24 tons of weaponry, and usually tends to transport cruise missiles KH-22 or KH-32-capable of reaching long range or nuclear pumps, and hypersonic missile pumps.

This type of bomber is essentially used to carry out strategic attacks on anti -viking missions, conventional bombardments and as a weapon of nuclear deterassion.

Tupolev-95

Tupolev-95 is a long-range strategic bomber powered by propellers developed by the Soviet Union in the 1950s and is still present in the Russian Air Force. This aircraft is also known by the name of NATO code “Bear”.

Despite the age, this is an aircraft that continues to highlight for its above average autonomy and load capacity.

The Tupolev-95 has a top speed of 925 km/he has a range of 15 thousand kilometers and can be replenished in the air.

This bomber can carry up to 15 tons of weaponry, and usually tends to carry cruise missiles KH-55 or KH-101/102 armed with conventional or nuclear bombs.

As a general rule, the Tupolev-95 is used to perform long-range strategic patrols, launch of cruise missiles, recognition missions and electronic war actions or nuclear dissuasion.

The Tu-95 also stands out for being the only strategic bomber with propulsion through propellers still in operation in the world, something that is only possible thanks to the Kuznetsov NK-12 turbopropulating engines, of the most powerful man ever built.

Beriev A-50

Beriev A-50’s opposite bombers such as Tu-22M3 or TU-95 is not an offensive combat aircraft, it is an early air alert and control aircraft developed by the Soviet Union and is still present in the Russian Air Force. This aircraft is also known by the NATO code name “Mainstay”.

Kremlin uses A-50 especially for its crucial role in air surveillance and coordination of military operations.

Beriev A-50 has a top speed of 800 km/he has a range between 5 and 7,000 kilometers and can be replenished in the air.

This bomber can carry up to 15 people – including radar operators and communications – and has the ability to detect 150 targets simultaneously within 400 kilometers for air targets and 300 kilometers for land targets.

In general, Beriev A-50 is used to detect enemy aircraft, air control, airspace management in military operations, ballistic missile monitoring and cruise; and Air Defense Coordination.

OPERATION “PAVUTYNA”

At 1,193 day since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has carried out one of its biggest attacks so far. The operation is being named “Pavutyna” and wides up a total of 41 Russian strategic bombers, capable of transporting nuclear warheads.

To the newspaper, the Ukraine Security Service (SBU) – Ukrainian secrets – explain that they launched drone swarms against four Russian air bases this Sunday and confirms the destruction of the 41 bombers, represents it close to 30% of the Russian arsenal of this type of aircraft.

“Russian military aircraft are currently burning in the air bases of Belaya, Diaghilev, Olenya and Ivanovo,” a SBU member told the SBU, on anonymous condition.

An unidentified Ukrainian government member told Reuters that Kiev did not say Washington that he was going to advance with Operation Pavutyna.

The attack by Ukraine’s secret services, SBU, destroyed 41 Russian strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

At CBS News, a member of the Trump administration confirmed that the White House had no “wide -scale attack with Ukraine drones against Russian aircraft.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed that Ukraine has made a “terrorist attack” in the regions of Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur, releasing drones against local aerodromes.

Kremlin also says that some responsible were found and detained. Several planes were burned down and were burned following the attack, Moscow points without the number or type of neutralized aircraft.
