Carlos Siqueira advanced a lawsuit and ended a presidency of 10 years and 7 months, electing his successor by acclamation in the National Congress of the acronym
The mayor of Recife, João Campos, was elected this Sunday (1st.jun.2025) as the new president of the PSB during the National Congress of the acronym in Brasilia.
The now former president Carlos Siqueira advanced the internal electoral process, ending his 10 years and 7 months ahead of the party, to honor the presence of the president (PT) and the mayor, (Republicans-PB).
After the speech, Siqueira was embraced by the petista and asked all gifts to raise their badges to elect João Campos by acclamation.
“There is no party without democracy, there is no social justice without democracy and it is the role of those who understand this to help the government work. We will not hesitate, we will not play with any of this in any Brazilian state.”said João Campos in his 1st speech as president of the party.
In his speech, the mayor of Recife said he will “Put the PSB to talk outside the walls” and guaranteed that it will be in the same “trench” that Lula in the 2026 elections.
In addition to the president, the first lady Janja da Silva, the vice president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, congressmen and ministers were present.
