Ukraine will send a delegation for negotiations to Istanbul, where it will request a ceasefire and the return of prisoners of war.
Ukraine will send a delegation to Turkish Istanbul to the second direct negotiations with Russia, which should take place on Monday. It will be led by Minister of Defense Rusta UMER. On Sunday it was confirmed on Social Network X by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj. According to DPA and AFP, TASR informs about this.
“I defined our opinion before Monday’s meeting in Istanbul,” said Zelenskyj, according to which Ukraine will demand a “complete and unconditional ceasefire”, the return of prisoners of war and kidnapped children.
The return of prisoners and children
This is the first time Ukraine officially confirmed that it will participate in the second round of direct negotiations proposed by Russia. Both sides last met in Istanbul in mid -May. These were the first direct negotiations among the opposing countries since 2022. The delegations agreed on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war.
