India and Bangladesh hit floods, report dozens of victims

At least 34 victims of life have claimed floods and landslides caused by intensive downpour over the past four days in the northeast of India. On Monday, local authorities informed about it, while meteorologists predict strong rainfall in the coming days, TASR says, referring to Reuters.

In the Indian state of Sikkim, located in the Himalayas, they evacuated more than a thousand tourists on Monday. In Meghalaj, army units were deployed in the rescue operations that helped to rescue more than 500 people stuck in flooded areas. In the city of Silchar in the state, water flooded houses and roads, which also blocked fallen trees.

Floods also in Bangladesh

In the neighboring Bangladesh, at least four members of one family died in the landslide of the silét region in the northeast of the country, while in the next mountain areas hundreds of emergency shelters for residents were set up on Sunday.

The authorities in both countries warned against other landslides and tidal rain, and residents in endangered areas called for increased vigilance.
