According to the Iranian diplomat, the proposal does not take into account the interests of Tehran. They prepare a negative answer.
Iran is ready to reject the US proposal for a new nuclear agreement that US President Donald Trump is trying to reach, a high -ranking Iranian diplomat confirmed on Monday. According to him, the proposal does not take into account the interests of Tehran and counts on the unchanged attitude of Washington on the enrichment of uranium in Iran, TASR reports.
“Iran is preparing a negative response to the United States proposal that could be interpreted as a refusal of this offer,” said a diplomat close to the Iranian negotiators.
The US and Iran has been led by five laps of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program that mediates Oman from 12 April. Nevertheless, many questions remain unresolved. The main controversial points include the US duration for Iran to give up uranium enrichment facilities, which Tehran refuses, claiming that its nuclear program is intended exclusively for peaceful purposes. He also denies allegations of trying to develop nuclear weapons.
The US believes in an early agreement
Trump claimed that an agreement with Iran is possible in the “not too far” future. He also confirmed that he recently warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to not take steps that could endanger nuclear talks. The bombing of Iranian nuclear races has repeatedly threatened Trump himself if diplomacy fails.
The American proposal of the agreement was presented by the head of Omani diplomacy Badr al-Busydi on Saturday during a short visit to Tehran.
“In this proposal, the US’s attitude towards enriching uranium on Iranian soil remains unchanged and there is no clear explanation for the abolition of sanctions,” said the unnamed diplomat.
Iran requires the US to abolish all sanctions imposed on its economy. However, the United States wants these measures to be released gradually in phases. During his first term of office in 2018, Trump resigned from the Nuclear Agreement with Iran of 2015, which mitigated sanctions on Iran in exchange for limiting his nuclear activities. Tehran after the US withdrawal has ceased to comply with the agreement and progressed significantly in the nuclear program.
