Poland became an example in the EU of dike in front of the ultra wave in. The victory of the liberal field, led by Donald Tusk, was a breath of hope. The respite has been fleeting. A year and a half later, the Poles have chosen as president the ultra -nationalist historian Karol Nawrocki against the mayor of Warsaw, the Europeanist Rafal Trzawski, with 50.89% of votes compared to 49.11%. There are only 369,591 votes of difference, but enough to weaken the Liberal Coalition Government and to compromise the leadership of the Prime Minister, in Poland and in the EU.
