President praises vice in PSB event, but avoids confirming the repetition of the double to 2026, generating uncertainty between allies
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) indicated that he can dispute the reelection in 2026, conditioning the decision to his health. The statement, however, was accompanied by a dose of uncertainty for the current deputy, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB).
In conversations with members of the PSB on Sunday (1st), Lula did not guarantee that the victorious plate of 2022 will be repeated. The president attended the party event in Brasilia, which marked the inauguration of the mayor of Recife, João Campos, in the national command of the acronym.
Behind the scenes, Lula had reserved meetings with the PSB summit. Even in these meetings, he avoided signaling how he intends to compose his plate for the next presidential dispute.

The indefinition occurs despite the pressure on the part of the PSB, including João Campos himself, who publicly defends Alckmin’s maintenance as vice in Lula’s eventual candidacy.
During his speech at the event, Lula made several compliments to Alckmin, but dodged the continuity of the partnership. The stance frustrated the expectation of PSB sectors that expected a clearer nod of the president.
Publicly, Lula sought to reinforce the ties with the Allied Party. “Our relationship is carnal, we are umbilically linked, and also mentally, because the divergences we have are small,” said the president.
