A furious Magnus Carlsen violently hit the fist on the board after a defeat to Gukesh Dommaraju, in a chess match held on Sunday (1st), in Stavanger, Norway, the Norway Chess tournament.
The 31 -year -old Norwegian star had the young Indian 19, world champion last year. However, under the pressure of the clock, the experienced cheekbonist made a mistake and gave the opponent the advantage.
Carlsen punched the table, knocking over the pieces that were standing. Then he quickly greeted Gukesh and walked out. Seconds later, he passed the Indian and gave him a friendly touch on his back.
“The victory was not the way I wanted, but that’s fine, I accept,” Gukesh told Chess.com. “I’ve also hit a lot of tables during my career.”
Even with the defeat, Carlsen remained in the lead of the world ranking.
