Like a chrome -plated noodle nest, a stale ball of silver spirals sits on the roof of the elongated concrete construction on the banks of the Rotterdam Rijnhavens. At first glance, this combination does not look like a museum. The first associations go towards the Aquapark-Fun-Oasis. “I have been asked several times whether it was a swimming pool,” says Ma Yansong. The Chinese architect sits in the vastness of the building, behind it the mirrored stairs and ramps swirl in the ground. “It is not, but a certain fun aspect is already intended.”
