The right -wing populist Karol Nawrocki (42) is to become the new President of Poland. The Polish voters chose an anti -European and national populist candidates for the third time in a row: in 2015 it was Andrzej Duda again in 2020, and now it is Nawrocki. Both candidates were supported by the nationalist party law and justice (PIS), which from 2015 to 2023 with an absolute majority in the SEJM, the Polish House of Representatives, was able to rule through the largest opposition party in Poland since 2023. In a narrow runoff election, the right historian Nawrocki was able to beat his opponent, the left -wing Liberal Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, with a lead of around 370,000 votes.
