Last Sunday, the headquarters of the Rotary Club of Albufeira was the scene of a lively and tasty Rotária paella, made by the doctor and former president Nelson Melo, a remarkable figure in the club’s history, which led the institution when the celebration of its 25th birthday.
The event brought together current and former Rotary companions, as well as friends and collaborators, in an environment of companionship, good mood and sharing. At the table, the pawl symbolized not only a reunion, but also the celebration of the proximity and tradition values that characterize the Rotary Movement.

The organization of the event was hosted by the tireless support of companion Domicilia Coelho, Protocol Director Ana Vieira, companion Normélia Cunha and friends Rodrigo Ricardo and Carmelinda José, whose logistics collaboration was essential for the success of the initiative. To all who got involved with a routine spirit, the club left a special thanks.
During the occasion, President Jorge Azevedo launched the proposal to institutionalize the solidarity routine pace and the creation of a Sardine Summer Rotary, events with social purposes that will be able to join the club’s annual calendar. These initiatives aim to promote the involvement of the community and support the social projects of the Rotary Club of Albufeira, such as university scholarships and support to local institutions.

When approaching its 54th anniversary, which will be celebrated on June 16, reaffirms its commitment to service to the community, the strengthening of human ties and the spirit of ajuda.
“Rotary is made of simple gestures with lasting impact. A pale, shared with joy and generosity, is also Rotary in action,” said Jorge Azevedo, president of the club.
