It is the most active in Europe and has erupted again. The Etna volcano in Sicily, Italy, launched a huge cloud of smoke on Monday, visible in much of the Italian island, by surprise the inhabitants and many tourists.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology in Italy placed the activity of the orange alert, the second most serious, after having recorded strong stroke explosions – a type of eruption – “of increasing intensity,” as the body says. The volcano erupted at 00:39 local (less one hour in mainland Portugal).
For no longer reported by the Italian authorities, any type of damage, nor the intensity of the eruption, have been not deviated flights at Catania Airport. The last update indicates that volcanic material had not yet surpassed Valle del Leone, which is on the way to the summit of the volcano.
On social networks, publications did not appear when the volcano erupted. Several groups of tourists were even forced to return from their excursion as soon as the cloud of smoke came out, as shown in publications made on the social network X.
