The FBI is investigating what authorities call an anti -Semitic attack in the city of Boulder, Colorado, during a weekly meeting of members of the Jewish community.
Eight people were injured, local police said.
The suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman, besides shouting “Palestine free,” said FBI special agent in Denver Mark Michalek during a press conference on Sunday (1st).
Attack
The crime occurred during a Boulder Run for Their Lives event – a weekly meeting of members of the Jewish community designed to support the hostages of October 7 attacks in Israel in 2023, according to the Anti -Difama League.
Victims
Eight injured, four women and four men, aged between 52 and 88 years, were taken to hospitals in the Metropolitan Region of Denver, state capital, reported Boulder officials.
The FBI initially stated that six people were injured in the attack, with the number being updated hours later.
Suspect
he acted alone and is not part of a larger group or network, Michalek said. In 2005, his entry visa in the United States was denied, according to sources to CNN.
It is unclear when or as the suspect entered the country.
Possible accusations
The suspect will be indicted in the coming days, according to the public prosecutor of Boulder County, Michael Dougherty. Federal criminal accusations are expected in the case, according to the source of CNN familiar with the investigation.
