34,000 immigrants will leave Portugal. Processes are almost ready

Process “started to accelerate”. Voluntary abandonment can be replaced by coercive abandonment. Most refused are Indians.

The government announced on Monday that the more than 400 thousand process immigrant pendants are already practically completed at the agency for integration, migrations and asylum (Aima), of which more than 165 thousand were extinct.

“The 446,921 AIMA pending cases were recovered. We already know what the processes were, where they were, they were all served in one way or another, they are all being granted or rejected and the residence cards are being sent to those who meet the rules of the Portuguese State,” said the deputy secretary of the presidency, Rui Armindo Freitas, at the government’s headquarters.

The Secretary of State presented the results of the AIMA pending resolution and the first year of the Migration Action Plan, at a press conference of about an hour and a half, alongside Presidential Minister António Leitão Amaro.

“We had a rejection rate of 44% So far and we are in this phase of closing of everything that was the manifestation of interest, ”he said.

Rui Armindo Freitas indicated that from 274,000 schedules resulted in 252,000 calls and that “133,000 documents have already been sent (…) to the house of users”.

On the processes related to the 210,000 citizens of the community of Portuguese -speaking countries (CPLP) with precarious residence titles in Portugal, Rui Armindo Freitas stated that “115 thousand are already served”.

“When we discuss these 210,000 CPLP, we are talking about all those who have had a document without ever being verified their criminal record. We are doing so, we are doing it at a good pace and we will go to the other issues,” he said.

Almost 34 thousand rejections

More than 33,000 foreigners saw their requests for legalization rejected by the agency for integration, migrations and asylum (AIMA), and may receive order to abandon the country voluntarily, the government announced.

In early May, AIMA began by notifying 18,000 foreign citizens, which now almost doubled.

“This notification, in the Portuguese regime, allows voluntary abandonment and only leads to coercive abandonment after a new procedure”Said the minister.

Concerned are 33,983 Indefense, Most of citizens Indians (13.466).

Of the total of 184,059 proceedings decided, there are also 5,386 rejections to Brazilian citizens, 3,750 from Bangladesh, 3,279 Nepalese, 3,005 Pakistanis, 236 Colombians, 1,054 Algerians, 234 Venezuelans, 180 Argentines, 603 Moroccans and 2,790 of other nationalities.

According to the government, it is a rejection rate of 18,5%having been 150,076 proceedings granted.
