Ukraine has performed an audacious attack on Russian military bases located thousands of kilometers from its border, challenging Moscow’s safety expectations.
The operation, which lasted 18 months and 9 days of preparation, demonstrated the Ukrainian capacity to reach delay deep within the Russian territory.
The International Analyst of CNNLourival Sant’Anna detailed that Ukrainians used a sophisticated strategy, employing hidden drones in convertible containers. These were positioned in strategic locations in Russia, including regions near Moscow and even in the Arctic Polar Circle.
Strategic targets and impact on Russian defense
The attacks aimed and, more critically, A-60 air traffic control aircraft. The latter are essential for Moscow air defense against ballistic missiles.
The possible destruction of two of these planes may have significantly compromised the ability to surveillance Russian.
Russian attempts to protect their aircraft using tires such as thermal and visual camouflage were ineffective against Ukrainian drones, which were apparently equipped with advanced recognition systems or artificial intelligence.
Diplomatic implications and negotiations
Parallel to the attacks, they gathered in Istanbul to discuss possible diplomatic advances. Although the meeting was brief, there was progress in the liberation of prisoners, with more than 1,000 in the process of repatriation.
The 2 to 3 days for the removal of bodies from battlefields, but it was not clear if an agreement was reached. Negotiations remain tense, with Ukraine criticizing the lack of Russian reciprocity in the preparation for discussions.
