Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) claims to hit the Kerch Bridge that connects the Crimean Peninsula to Russia, and damaged its retaining points underwaterin which 1,100 kilograms of explosives were placed. According to SBU, the intervention is the result of a few months of operation. The Russian media, according to Sky News, had previously reported the closure of the bridge without giving any reason. Informs TASR.
According to SBU, the explosives were detonated on Tuesday morning at 04:44. Local time, explosions did not claim any civilian victims. “The fraudulent pillar supports were seriously damaged at the lower level,” SBU said in a statement on the X Network. According to her, this was a “new unique special operation”. She also posted a short video in the post, which she says she shows an explosion at one of the pillars.
Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula in 2014. Kiev has repeatedly says that the construction of the road and railway Kerch Bridge, which was used in the past to move troops and weapons, considers it illegal. She has so far attacked the Ukraine Bridge twice – in 2022 and 2023 – and claims that Crimea wants to get back.
