An environmental organization has used traditional values to bring the theme of sustainability closer to groups historically linked to the right, such as ruralists, evangelicals, military and even “tradwifes”, “traditional wives” movement.

The common home entity, which rejects the term NGO for being poorly seen by its partners, says it has decided not to go to, who will bring together world leaders in November in Belém, because the non -dialogue conference with its audiences.

“Unfortunately, the climate agenda ended up being associated only on the left,” says the group’s founder and executive director, journalist Nathalia Rocha. “Our proposal is to promote an environmentalism that represents all Brazilians, not just a political field.”

She says the organization goes only to the so -called “Agro Cop”, which should gather politicians and ruralists a month earlier in Marabá (PA). “But let’s go as listeners just to map the narratives of this right agro on the right.”

Rocha began his trajectory in progressive field entities, but today he considers himself from center. “Precisely because of this I realized that the left did not dialogue with people like my most conservative grandparents, and my father, more liberal in the economy,” he says.

According to her, one by the entity to Quaest in 2023, with 4,072 people, showed that only 18% of Brazilians are at the extremes (“progressive engaged” or “defenders of the homeland and family”), and that only the first group feels represented by the environmental agenda.

Therefore, the ordinary address decided to focus on consensus points such as national pride, civic participation and optimism – 79% of respondents said they were proud to be Brazilian, and 45% of them pointed to nature as the main reason for it.

Six out of ten also believe that agribusiness is positive, that the concern with prevents development and that the country should be guided by Christian principles. One of the languages used by the entity, for example, is that nature is part of divine creation.

Today the ordinary address has two main projects: Tropical Livestock for the Climate, a network of ranchers from different states committed to low carbon production, and another that includes the training of evangelical leaders, along with the Evangelical National Alliance.

Now Rocha says she is also trying to take the subject to military, with lectures and events that emphasize the relationship between security and climate, and “tradwifes”. The idea, still in the early stages, is to create a network of influencers who talk about climate change from a conservative perspective.
