A radar on a man
Nature has equipped ticks with a great compass. It is a Haller’s organ that has a tick in the tarsal cells of the forelegs. These are receptors of moisture, smell, CO2, ammonia and heat. “Just breathe and secrete carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and the tick will find you accordingly,” says one of the scientists, demonstrating the sensitivity of ticks on the dry ice experiment that contains carbon dioxide: “We often collect ticks by putting a small block of dry ice on the white substance.
There is live in the grass
Therefore, be aware that ticks can “sniff” their object (or you). Therefore, try to avoid places where they stay most. According to research, ticks stay most in the grass. “If the lawn is longer than 20 centimeters, you can take the poison that you can find them there,” says the scientist. So if you are going to nature, you should take longer pants and socks so that the lurking ticking commando does not get so easily to the skin. Light clothes from smooth materials will also help you, on which ticks will be harder to keep and are visible immediately.
Aromatic herbs
There may also be repellents. You can find a lot of them and buy in a pharmacy or drugstore, but if you do not want to lubricate chemistry, you can do it with natural preparations. Betting for sure is strongly aromatic oils of herbs, such as lavender, eucalyptus, fennel, cloves, mint, sage or rosemary. But our grandmothers used the most repellent, which they prepared from the Vratička. Try it too!
