Alternative would also serve to cover the impasse with the IOF; Subject was discussed by the president with Minister Alexandre Silveira this Monday

The President (PT) called the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, this Monday (2.Jun.2025) for a meeting at the Planalto Palace to discuss measures that increase federal collection by up to $ 20 billion this year and $ 15 billion in 2026.

The meeting was present at the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, according to the Poder360. The idea is to use the extra money from MME to relieve the government’s cash, which froze more than $ 30 billion last week and is pressured to retreat from the increase in IOF (tax on financial operations) whose objective was to increase the collection.

Extraordinary revenue, without forecasting so far in the budget, should be made possible throughout the year and will allow the government to reduce pressure on public accounts and congressional amendments, which are also targeted by the freezing by Fernando Haddad’s team.

This report will be updated.
