In Tuesday’s speech, Czech President Petr Pavel appealed to MPs to keep the campaign before the elections to the Chamber of Deputies correctly and not to be seduced to cheap slogans and empty promises. According to Pavel, frequent night negotiations or complex political conflicts that have been repeatedly reached to the Constitutional Court in this parliamentary term are leading to the change of the Rules of Procedure, the TASR reporter in Prague informs.

“I wish you to lead it (pre -election campaign) all the time correctly, dignified and without unfair attacks. You do not let yourself be seduced to cheap slogans and empty promises. Citizens rightly expect truth and vision to solve the problems that burn them,” said Pavel.

Expectations from the campaign

For coalition sides in the campaign, it assumes that they will reflect their activities with an emphasis on the current Bitcoin case.

He also expects to present the results of their work, which they have done in four years, but will also point out what they failed.

He would like to see realistic alternatives in the campaign. “Not only criticism of government, but concrete and factual proposals to deal with the challenges of the Czech Republic,” Paul said. According to him, the Czech Republic needs reforms that will respond adequately to current security, economic and social challenges. He noted that he was aware of the reality of the political struggle, but he would still consider it very harmful if the following months of the campaign led to deepening hostility in society.

Call for cultivation of discussion

The Czech President also commented on the way of functioning the house in the past four years, which was often paralyzed for opposition obstruction. He pointed out the multi -time speeches, night negotiations, complex political conflicts and recalled that the meeting of the House was repeatedly the subject of the Constitutional Court’s decision -making.

“This not quite happy political reality is at least for me an incentive to change. I see it as an appeal to reflect on whether there has been time to cultivate and adjust the rules of parliamentary discussion so that on the one hand there is a dignified space for opinions and proposals of opposition, but also for effective government and election program.” According to him, a change should be achieved to continue to be allowed to confront opinions, but at the same time not regular obstructions.
