Tusk has been applying for the confidence of Parliament twice, in October 2012 and in June 2014, and in both cases SEJ had confidently confidence.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday that the vote on his government’s confidence in parliament, which he initiated after the loss of the candidate of the government civic coalition Rafal Trzaskowski in the presidential election, will take place on June 11. TASR informs according to AFP report.
Tusk announced the date of the vote on confidence at the beginning of Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting. “We are starting a meeting in a new political reality … The political reality is new because we have a new president. However, the constitution, our duties and expectations of citizens have not changed,” the Polish Prime Minister quoted AP.
The government’s candidate and the mayor of Warsaw Rafal Trzaskowski defeated the opposition and justice (PiS) candidate (PiS) Karol Nawrocki on Sunday’s decisive second round of the presidential election. The winner was given 50.89 percent of the votes, the defeated candidate of the government coalition 49.11 percent.
If the parliament does not say confidence in the government, Tusk will have to resign and the Sejm will have 14 days to propose a new candidate for the Prime Minister. He must then gain confidence in the absolute majority of the deputies present.
