The Russian military found in the Belgorod region, on the border with Ukraine, the body of a Spaniard who allegedly fought in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, the TASS agency reported. According to the source, the body was located on May 25 in the area of the town of Demidovka “during evacuation operations”.
“The body of a military man was discovered, whose exterior appearance indicated his belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” including an NATO uniform, a blue ribbon on his right arm and foreign manufacturing equipment, quotes Tass to a source in Russian security services.
When inspecting their belongings, documents were found “that showed their belonging to the kingdom of Spain,” he adds without giving more details.
The Army Staff informed last March of new attempts by the Ukrainian forces to enter Belgorod in the midst of the Russian counteroffensive for its expulsion from neighboring Kursk.
Russia proclaimed Kursk’s complete release last April after eight months of partial occupation by the Ukrainian forces.
In the memorandum that Moscow gave to kyiv on Monday in the peace negotiations in Istanbul appears the requirement that foreign specialists do not fight in the ranks of the Ukrainian army.
