The Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) has admitted to process against the Special Plan approved by the Madrid City Council to allow the expansion of Ifema and, with it, the construction of the new circuit to host Formula 1 between 2026 and 2035. In addition, a separate piece has been opened to decide on the precautionary suspension that this party requests.
The left manages to form a judicial front against a project that also opposes the Madrid environmental platform ,. And it will not be the last: more Madrid prepares another against the municipal license approved by the City Council to allow the celebration of the Grand Prix, which has the total support of the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, both of the PP.
“We are convinced of the illegality of the urban plan,” argues Rita Maestre, the municipal leader of Más Madrid. “It is a plan without the proper environmental impact assessment, and public health, despite the noise and pollution that will obviously suffer the nearby areas, with the circuit passing less than 40 meters from the houses and taking more than 700 trees ahead,” he adds on the IFEMA environment.
“As if that were not enough, the residents of the environment have been processed without notifying the public information period so that they could claim, as the law demands,” he says. “All of that are plenty of reasons for justice to intervene. We are not going to let this ball take effect with the crossed arms,” concludes Master.
The party that leads the opposition to the PP in Madrid has so far divided its judicial strategy into two commented movements. The first attacks the special plan approved by the City Council: increases the building of the land of the current fair enclosure by 4%, 13,600 square meters over the current 340,000 maximums, and makes possible the expansion of pavilions 1 and 2, which will serve to house the garages and technical offices of the F1 equipment and the VIP area of the Paddock Club.
The second puts in the Diana the municipal license, which is what allows the construction of the circuit itself after having been approved in April. That resource is still being finalized, as explained in training.
A February survey of a neighborhood association with 1,714 responses that could be given from anywhere concluded that. As a result, the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo ,.
The Madrid circuit is hybrid: largely runs through IFEMA, but also occupies more than a kilometer of the streets that use the neighbors and passage drivers day by day. Both regional and municipal technicians agree that the celebration of the F-1 will involve exceeding the noise levels allowed by the regulations of the capital during the days of training and the race, affecting the neighbors closest to the route ,.
It would be the homes north of the M-11 of the Valdefuentes neighborhood, in particular those that border the IFEMA extension located in Francisco Umbral and Florentino Rodríguez Alonso (the distance to the circuit of the most exposed homes of this area is about 40 meters); and of the surroundings of the street of Las Pedroñeras, in the eastern part of the Canillas neighborhood, as well as the northern part of the neighborhood of La Piovera (the distance to the circuit of the most exposed homes of this area varies between 320 and 500 meters, approximately).
These residences would be affected by levels that would be higher than during training and careers. That noise, precisely, will be in the core of the writings that now register more Madrid and the environmental platform after having been admitted to process its resources.
