These parts of Slovakia can hit heavy storms: SHMI warns of floods!

In several parts of the Slovak Republic, storm warnings continue to pay on Tuesday. In this context, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) issued first and second level alerts. He also warned against floods in the districts of Sabinov and Bardejov. Informed about it on his website.

Storm alerts are valid for the whole Košice region, provisionally until 4 pm. Also for part of the Prešov and Banská Bystrica regions. Thunderstorms can be accompanied by a sharp downpour with an intensity of 20 to 30 millimeters in 30 minutes, gusty winds up to 85 kilometers per hour and hail.

The first stage of flood warning in the districts of Sabinov and Bardejov is valid for Tuesday lunch. “Given the expected storm rainfall, we assume a temporary significant local rise in water levels, especially on small streams, with the possibility of reaching and exceeding aquatic states corresponding to the degree of flood activity.
