BYD surpassed Toyota and consolidated itself as the fourth brand of lightweight vehicles best selling in the Brazilian retail in May.
According to data on plates released by the National Federation of Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), BYD reached an 8.86% share in the retail commercial car market, excluding direct sales to fleet holders, which accounted for 52.6% of the market in the month.
In the overall ranking, which includes direct sales, BYD was in seventh position in May.

In addition to overcoming Toyota, the Chinese automaker sold more vehicles than brands like Hyundai, Honda, Caoa Chery and Jeep.
BYD also led the 100% electric car segment, with 80.62% of this market.
Its most affordable model, the Dolphin Mini, was the fifth compact hatch best selling, competing directly with combustion vehicles.
