Government created 5%charge; deadline for tax payment went from 4 and 13 to 25 June
Decided to extend for June 25 the deadline for payment of IOF (Tax on Financial Operations) on contributions Superiors of R $ 50,000 in private pension plans, such as the VGBL (free benefit generator).
The 5% charge on this type of operation with these values was, along with an IOF increases, and began to be valid on the later day.
The extension, signed by the Minister of Finance, (PT), was published on Tuesday (3.jun.2025), in do (Official Gazette of the Union). This is the Ordinance (PDF – 98 KB).
According to the Ordinance, the postponement refers to operations carried out from 21 to 31 May (whose maturity would be on June 4) and from June 1st to 10th (whose maturity would be on June 13).
Prior to the new rule, the VGBL, a type of private pension with retirement investment plan, was exempt from IOF. Now it has been taxed at 5%.
The government, however, said that this type of investment was being used as an alternative by super rich to avoid the taxation of exclusive investment funds.
The increase in IOF was and at least 19 projects were filed to stop changes in the rates. The federal government with the House and Senate leaders to find alternatives to ensure greater collection.
