Moraes: Judiciary knows how to defend itself from enemies – 03/06/2025 – Brasilia Today

The minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), said on Tuesday (3) that he has the defense of democracy as an inflexible principle. He also said that the Brazilian judiciary will be able to defend himself against aggression from national and international enemies.

“It is an inflexible principle of the judiciary, it is an inflexible principle of electoral justice to defend the democratic rule of law, it matters little what are the aggressions, little matter what the enemies of democracy, the enemies of the state and law, whether national enemies, are international enemies,” he said.

The statement was made at a ceremony in the (Superior Electoral Court) for the unveiling of the minister’s portrait at the Court’s presidents in Brasilia.

“The sovereign country like Brazil will always know how to defend its democracy,” said Moraes.

Supreme Ministers Gilmar Mendes, André Mendonça, Flávio Dino, Luis Roberto Barroso, Luiz Fux and Kassio Nunes Marques accompanied the ceremony.

The Vice-President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), Federal Senate President David Alcolumbre, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco, former President Michel Temer (MDB), Ministers of Higher Courts, Ministers José Mucio Monteiro (Defense), Jorge Messias (AGU), Brazilian Army commander, General Tomas Paiva, were also present.

The president of the TSE, also spoke, called the warrior colleague and said that Brazil was lucky to have Moraes as president during the 2022 elections.

“Brazil was fortunate to have an operant judge, efficient, hardworking, aware of his responsibility and brave to face with all his strength, everything that was necessary to ensure that those elections happened as happened,” he said.
