Morten Harket, a-H-vocalist, revealed on Wednesday, 4, that he has Parkinson’s disease. “This is not the kind of news someone would like to give to the world, but here is: Morten has Parkinson’s disease,” says a statement on the official website of the Norwegian band.
The text, signed by Jan Omdahl, the artist’s biographer, also reveals that the 65 -year -old singer has received the diagnosis a few years ago, but chose not to make the news public so far.

Morten has undergone two successful surgical procedures last year. “In June 2024, he underwent a neurosurgical procedure in which electrodes were deeply implemented on the left side of the brain. These are connected to a small tent -like device placed under the skin of the upper chest, which sends electrical impulses through the brain electrodes,” the statement details.

“The method is called Deep Cerebral Stimulation (ECP) and is among the most advanced neurology treatments. The procedure had the desired effect: with the right electrical impulses reaching Morten’s brain, many of its physical symptoms practically disappeared. In December 2024, it was subjected to a similar procedure on the right side of the brain, which was also successful.”
The latest A-HA performances took place in 2022, with a time in Brazil that year. The band played in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Salvador and Curitiba.
