Company controlled by Pontal Energy acquires facilities with a capacity of 200 MWP distributed in 4 states of Northeast Brazil
Thopen, a company controlled by Pontal Energy, acquired on Tuesday (3.Jun.2025) 52 VIP Air distributed generation solar plants for approximately R $ 750 million.
The facilities, which add up to 200 MWP (Megawatt-PEO), are located in 4 states in the northeast of Brazil.
The acquired plants are distributed in Bahia, Ceará, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, regions with favorable conditions for solar power generation. Action was completed in June 2025, according to information released by the company itself.
The acquisition represents a strategic movement of Thopen to expand its operations in the solar energy market aimed at commercial consumers of different sizes. With this purchase, the company will expand its offer in the model of “GD (Distributed Generation) POR SUBSCRIPTION”.
This business format allows small, medium and large commercial consumers to reduce their expenses with electricity without having to invest in their own solar panels. According to the company, the model can provide minimum economy of 10% in electricity costs.
“The acquisition of new plants that substantially increase our generation capacity is decisive for the success of our investment and capitalization plan. We want to create value for our shareholders and cost reduction for our customers.”said Gustavo Ribeiro, CEO of Thopen and Pontal Energy, in a statement released by the company.
The transaction is aligned with the company’s investment and capitalization objectives, which seeks to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector. The statement does not detail the plant integration schedule with the operation of Thopen, nor does it mention possible future expansions or planned additional acquisitions.
