The Brazilian government evaluates that at least five industrial segments may be harmed by “outbreaks” of imports of goods as a result tariffs established by the president of the United States, Donald Trumpaccording to the calculation of CNN.

The fear shared by industry and government sectors is that, with the US Feespart of the products that currently enter the giant North American market will be redirected and dumped at low prices in Brazil, damaging national production.
How it showed the CNNseveral and already ask the federal management to adopt trade defense mechanisms to protect their production, such as elevations and recomposition of tariffs, quotas and compensatory measures.
According to a government source, possible damage to the sectors and their demands are being evaluated. These claims go through the Executive Management Committee (GECEX) of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex), a collegiate formed by ten ministries of the Esplanada.
One of the segments considered vulnerable by the government, the steel industry recently attended by the government: the protection of 19 product classes (NCMS in the technical acronym) and extended trade defense to four other groups was renewed.
Tire and chemistry industries were also partially attended last year in their business defense claims. The latter, however, evaluates that, with “Trump effect” placed on the board later, the measure adopted in 2024 is not sufficient to protect the import sector.
