Alckmin sanctions law for measures to combat burning

Interim President participated in a ceremony in celebration of World Environment Day at the Planalto Palace

The interim president (PSB) sanctioned on Thursday (5.Jun.2025) the PL (bill) 3,469 of 2024 that establishes measures to combat irregular burning and forest fires. The text authorizes the participation of the Union in a fund aimed at recovery and adaptation to extreme climate events.

The ceremony in celebration of World Environment Day was held this Thursday (5.Jun), at the Planalto Palace. Alckmin was accompanied by the minister of SRI (Secretariat of Institutional Relations), (PT), the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sônia Guajajara, and the executive secretary of the Ministry of Environment, João Paulo Capobianco.

“There is no better way to celebrate this day but advancing in areas for the preservation of our common home on the planet. President Lula is in France with Minister Marina Silva for a visit by head of state and also for the UN meeting for the preservation of the oceans,” said Alckmin at the ceremony.

On Tuesday (3.Jun), the President (PT) had already announced the investment of R $ 825 million from the Amazon Fund to Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources). The funds go to the execution of the Fortfisc (strengthening of environmental inspection for the control of illegal deforestation in the Amazon).

This is the destination of resources, according to the Planalto:

  • R $ 522.7 million – Acquisition of large aircraft, fixed wing drones, 4 operational bases and 8 helipads in strategic areas of the Legal Amazon;
  • R $ 139.6 million -Construction of the National Training Center, storage structures and equipment acquisition such as containers, off-road trailers, tents and communication systems;
  • R $ 81.6 million – Development of computerized systems for environmental supervision, such as infraction notices management, and implementation of the zero deforestation system;
  • R $ 66.4 million – Modernization of remote inspection using artificial intelligence, geotechnologies and sensing, with automatic application of sanctions;
  • R $ 15.5 million – Creation of project management unit to coordinate the technical and financial execution of Fortfisc.
