Czech Minister of Justice in the resignation Pavel Blažek apologized to the coalition and the opposition for the Bitcoin case. He would never have thought that the donation treaty could cause not only a political but also a social crisis. He reiterated that he had a pure intention and objected that it should be a corruption case. He said this on Thursday at an extraordinary meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, although he announced on Wednesday that it would not be on it, reports TASR newsletter in Prague.

When deciding on the admission of a donation for the ministry, he was said to be blinded by getting the money for the necessary things in the justice sector, and did not think of the reputation and ethical side. “That was my big political mistake, and that was why I resigned from the post. Because if someone can’t think of what the consequences can have the public, then he simply has nothing to do in the public office,” the outgoing minister explained.

No corruption, says Blažek

According to him, this is an unfortunate case that looks strange, but is definitely not corruption. He reiterated that he had no benefit. He said everything about the case and he knows nothing else. Any effort to involve the opposition to involve other members of the government is, in his words, outside the reality, because the decision on the donation contract was only in its sector.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if this case became the subject of a literary work or film. That is exactly what attracted me – the possibility that someone just because you had a long sentence of imprisonment and did not get to some carriers for a long time.

Farewell to a political career

In conclusion, he added that it was perhaps his last speech in the House, in life and Members wished good luck. “We’ll see how the elections will end, which one of you will be here and who will not. I will certainly not be here,” he said. MEP will remain until the end of the parliamentary term.
