There are still doubts about how many Russian bombers were, in fact, destroyed in the so -called Ukrainian operation “Pavutyna”
Satellite images of Maxer Technologies show the damage caused after an attack of Ukrainian drones hit the Be Be Be Beloy air base in the Irkutsk region of East Siberia, Russia. This Ukraine attack, called “Operation Pavutyna”, is already seen as since invaded Ukraine in February 2022. But it is certainly destroyed.
Max’s satellite images, collected on June 4, show three of four destroyed planes, including at least two TU-22 bombers. In another satellite image you see three more TU-95 bombers destroyed at Belarya Air Base, Olenya, Dyagilevo and Ivanovo. But the Ukrainian intelligence group of open sources Avivector published, on the same day, satellite images that indicate that the destruction was wider and included four Tu-95ms bombers and an AN-12 transport aircraft. The latest report of the (ISW, in the English acronym) also reveals that the Avivector ensures that seven Tu-95ms, four Tu-23m3 and an AN-12 bombers were destroyed, and have probably damaged a Tu-95Ms in the Bases of Olenya and Be Be Beauty, but there are no images of all these damage. Information corroborated by a high NATO employee, quoted by Ukrainian television Suspilne, who said the operation destroyed between ten to 13 Russian aircraft.
Also the Ukraine Security Service (SBU) has released new images of this attack -which was planned for a year and a half -, which shows FPV (First Person View drones, seen in the first person, which means it transmits video in real time, as if, in fact, a person watching) to reach A -50 Air warning and control (the so -called Awacs), as well as bombings). Tu-95 and Tu-160 Strategic, Tu-22 Supersonic Bombings, AN-12 Transport Airplanes and IL-78 Tank Airplanes. All of these aerial equipment was in the Be Be Beautiful air bases, located in the Irkutsk region. Some of the images released on social networks show fire aircraft.
In the same report, the ISW also shows how Ukrainian aerial troops reached its targets, having approached the wings first after the sides, followed by the upper and lower parts of fixed wing russian aircraft in several aerodromes.
The SBU guarantees to have used Autonomous Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to direct the drones during the Spider Web Operation, but the Institute for the Study of War still has some doubts about such, explaining that “the promises of an immediate revolution in artificial intelligence and automatic learning (Machine Learning) are, on June 2025, even after the Spider Web Operation Russian as Ukrainian need more time, testing and investment to implement this type of drones massively on combat fronts, ”reads the report.
According to SBU, Ukrainian drones have reached 41 planes and that Russia will not be able to restore half of the Russian aircraft or that will take years to recover them.
