The São Paulo court determined the blockade of the assets of the during seven terms (from 1987 to 2015).
It is the target of a damage repair action opened by the Public Prosecution Service, in which it is accused of having committed administrative misconduct.
According to the prosecution, Ferrarini would have, upon receipt of bribes, intended in 2012 a parliamentary amendment of R $ 500 thousand to Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo, to purchase overpriced medical equipment.
The former deputy denied the prosecution to court in a petition signed by lawyer Alberto Mendonça Rollo, who represents him.
He stated that if there was illegality, the conduct was practiced by the hospital and the hired company managers. He said that the action, which runs under the secret of justice, intends to “criminalize” the legitimate and fair exercise “of a deputy to present amendments.
The merits of the case has not yet been tried, but the court ordered the freezing of the assets to guarantee the payment of a possible conviction.
“The decree of unavailability aims only to ensure that the assets remain linked to the owner during the dispute, departing from the possibility of transfer to third parties,” said Judge Cynthia Thomé in confirming the decision of first instance that prevents the deputy from selling his assets.
